Our U17 Elite League team claimed a well-deserved home victory in a thrilling, back-and-forth encounter against CS Dinamo București. After the final whistle, head coach Mitra Szilárd shared his thoughts on the team’s performance.

The coach said that in the first half, his team controlled the game and created several scoring chances. – “We played well in the first half, controlled the match, and looked dangerous going forward. We took the lead and earned a penalty, which unfortunately we missed, but the chances kept coming. We wasted two big opportunities, while Dinamo barely had a real one, yet they still managed to equalize,” said Mitra Szilárd.

According to him, fatigue played a key role in the second half. – “After the break, we struggled to maintain our tempo – you could see the tiredness. It’s been a demanding week with three matches in a short period, including against Rapid and Timișoara, which took a lot out of the boys. Because of that, we couldn’t defend as aggressively, and Dinamo managed to take control,” the coach explained.

In the final minutes, however, the team once again showed strong mental resilience. – “After missing our chances and the penalty, the second half still rewarded us – we scored the winning goal in the dying minutes, maybe when no one expected it anymore. That’s the beauty of football: sometimes you win even when you don’t play your best half,” said the coach.

In conclusion, Mitra stressed that while the performance wasn’t perfect, the three points were what truly mattered. – “This may have been our weakest second half since I’ve been here, but every game is different. You can’t always control the match – this was a real battle, and we’re happy to come away with all three points,” concluded Mitra Szilárd.
