On Saturday, we travel to Mioveni, the temporary home of FC Argeș, for the Round 4 match of the Superliga regular season.

We know the purple-and-whites very well: last season we competed together in Liga 2. We beat them 1–0 in Mioveni during the regular season thanks to a goal by Attila Csürös, but then suffered 0–3 and 0–4 defeats against them in the playoffs, away and at home. To be fair, by then it was already mathematically certain that we would be in the Superliga this season. FC Argeș ended as champions and promoted from first place. They started this season with two losses – 1–3 to Craiova and 0–2 to Rapid – but then claimed three points with a 2–0 win away at CFR Cluj.

Most of their squad was already together last season, but they’ve added several new faces, including some familiar from Liga 2, like Rober Sierra, formerly of Steaua, who scored the opening goal against CFR. The second scorer, Kosovar Leard Sadriu, is also a new signing at FC Argeș.

Unlike before the Rapid match last Friday, our team had ample time to prepare for this game.

“A very tough match lies ahead. After analyzing FC Argeș’s first three games, they also played very well at home against Rapid, and didn’t deserve to lose at Craiova either. In the third round, they proved their strength – the win in Cluj wasn’t by chance. They’ve brought in quality players – some who can decide games, like the Brazilian Caio. We need to be very focused and prepared to take points from them. But we’ve prepared well and I hope we’ll have a good performance,” said head coach Róbert Ilyés at the pre-match press conference.

“I’m sure we’ll play a good match against them, especially because in our current situation we need to win, we need points – we have to play aggressively,” said our newest signing, Márton Eppel, who already debuted against Rapid.

Szabolcs Szilágyi added: “Every game is different, every match has its own psychology. How we start this game will be very important. You have to approach every match believing you have your chance – and if we believe in ourselves, the results will come.”

The match kicks off on Saturday at 18:30 at the Mioveni City Stadium and will be broadcast live on DigiSport 1 and Prima Sport 1. For those who wish to support the team on site, we’re organizing a fan bus – you can still register by calling Tamás László “Egér” at 0743-314 314.
