Győzelem a magyar kupagyőztes ellen

Thanks to goals by Babati, FK Csíkszereda defeated Paksi FC 2–0 in a friendly match held in Szombathely, as the Hungarian side prepares for the Europa League qualifiers.

At the coaches’ request, the teams played two 60-minute halves in an unusual format. In the second half, two experienced players from the Hungarian top-tier bronze medalists, Ádám Martin and Dániel Böde, entered the pitch. This decision may have been influenced by the extreme heat – at kickoff, it was 33°C at the Király Sports Complex in Szombathely. The host of the facility, former Hungarian international goalkeeper Gábor Király, was also present at the match.

In the first half, due to the heat, most of the play happened in midfield, with few real chances. The best opportunity fell to Szabó, who couldn’t generate enough power on his header from Ferenczi’s precise cross, allowing Kovacsik to make the save. In the second half, both teams made numerous substitutions, including the appearances of Böde and Ádám for Paks. However, it was Babati Benjámin who found the net – first converting a penalty awarded for a foul on Szalay in the 74th minute, then curling a superb free kick into the top near corner from around 18 meters in the 82nd minute: 2–0.

In the remaining 40 minutes, Paks tried everything to score, but our defense held strong. Pap Eduárd, who played in goal during this half, also made a few stunning saves. The score remained unchanged through to the 120th minute, resulting in a 2–0 victory for Csíkszereda – a result that can surely boost the team's confidence for the remainder of the training camp and even the league opener.
