Our U15 Elite League team played out a hard-fought 1–1 draw away against LPS Buzău in a tense and competitive match. After the final whistle, head coach Fogarasi Zoltán shared his post-match thoughts.
The coach said his team controlled the game from start to finish, playing in an organised and disciplined manner both defensively and offensively. – “We controlled the match from the first minute. Our opponents relied mostly on long balls, which we dealt with effectively. We had more possession and created several promising attacks, but unfortunately, our finishing let us down,” said Fogarasi Zoltán.
He added that in the second half, his team increased the pressure even further, yet the hosts managed to take the lead from a set piece. – “We dominated possession, attacked well down the flanks, but the opponent took advantage of a dead-ball situation and scored. We reacted quickly, equalised, and kept attacking — we even hit the post, but the winning goal didn’t come,” explained the coach.
According to Fogarasi Zoltán, the draw was a fair result, although his team had enough chances to win. – “It’s fair to say the opponent worked hard for their point, but based on the chances we created, we should have won the match. With that many opportunities, we should have scored at least one more goal,” he said.
The head coach also highlighted the team’s mental strength. – “Coming back from behind shows the boys’ mental progress. In one week, we played three away matches and travelled over 1,600 kilometres, so the players deserve all the praise for earning two wins and a draw under such a demanding schedule,” he noted.
Finally, he congratulated a debutant in the team. – “I want to congratulate Boga Olivér, who made his U15 debut coming from a younger age group and repaid the staff’s trust with an excellent performance. I hope that next week we’ll be able to train a full week to prepare properly for our next play-off match against Iași,” concluded Fogarasi Zoltán.
