Our Superliga team will play away on Saturday afternoon in Arad against UTA, marking the first away fixture in a long time. The squad, together with the head coach, continues to hope for that long-awaited first victory.

Due to scheduling and an agreement with FCSB, our last away league match was in Botoșani on August 23. A few days later, on August 27, we won a Cup match in Voluntari (8–1), and since then we have only played at the Municipal Stadium in Csíkszereda — three consecutive matches, all ending in draws. In fact, that match in Botoșani was our last defeat; since then, we remain unbeaten.

Looking at the numbers, UTA is in a similar run of form: since August 21, they have recorded three draws and one defeat, their last victory coming against Farul in Round 5 on August 9. Of course, this does not mean the match will be easy. The head-to-head record clearly favors Arad, though the encounters have been few: we last met in Liga 2 in the shortened 2019–2020 season, when we lost 3–0 in Round 3 at Arad’s Motorul Stadium. That season UTA finished first and has been a Liga 1 club ever since. In November 2020, as a top-flight team, UTA visited Csíkszereda for a Cup tie behind closed doors and won 2–0.

This Saturday’s match will be played in completely different circumstances: in the beautiful new stadium in Arad, in front of thousands of fans. Our head coach, Róbert Ilyés, highlighted this at the pre-match press conference:
“We know we are playing against a team supported by a full house, fans who cheer until the last minute. Twice they were trailing by multiple goals yet managed to equalize and could even have won those games. They are a stable team, already with enough points to be in a good position in the table. We have prepared for them, and I hope we will stand our ground and return home with points.”

At the press conference, players Jozef Dolný and captain Szilárd Veres — who played his 125th match for FK last Monday — also shared their thoughts ahead of the clash.

The match kicks off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. A supporters’ bus will depart from Csíkszereda, and we also count on the presence of FK fans living in Banat, Crișana, and Hungary. The game will be broadcast live on Digi Sport and Prima Sport.
