The final match of the year awaits our Superliga team, a last opportunity to prove ourselves before the winter break and the transfer window. Our opponents will be Universitatea Craiova, who suffered a dramatic elimination from the Conference League on Thursday.

AEK Athens turned the home Conference League match against Craiova around by scoring in the 8th and 15th (!) minutes of extra time. Following the 3–2 defeat, the Oltenians ultimately missed out on the chance to continue in the competition’s play-off stage in the spring.

This could potentially work in FK Csíkszereda’s favour if the blue-and-whites fail to properly digest this extraordinary setback. However, as was also pointed out by the participants of the pre-match press conference, this is not something we can rely on.

“One of our toughest matches awaits us, against an opponent who dominates almost everyone, especially at home. They play attractive football, but despite that, I believe we prepared well this week, and I trust the team that with a good performance we can steal points from them. Craiova’s dramatic exit from the Conference League may leave its mark on their game, and it would be good if we could take advantage of that. Mentally, it certainly won’t be easy for them afterwards, and that could be an advantage for us,” said head coach Róbert Ilyés.

Speaking about the autumn campaign, the coach emphasized that while the team must accept its current position in the standings, he still feels a slight sense of disappointment, as the performances shown would have deserved more points. At the same time, he expressed confidence that the team will continue to collect points in the remaining matches of the regular season and climb higher in the table.

Erwin Bloj added: “A very difficult match awaits us in Craiova against one of the best teams in the league, but I feel we will put in a good performance. I’ve seen that the team prepared at one hundred percent, everyone is fully focused and giving their all.”

According to János Ferenczi, it is definitely a positive that the winter break is approaching, but until then they want to give the year a proper send-off. “Overall, the club is closing a successful year, having been promoted to the top division. In this half-season we’ve had a taste of what it’s like to play at this level, and it would be the best possible ending if we could earn points in the last match of the year and thus bid farewell to 2025,” said the defender.

The match of the 21st round of the Superliga regular season will kick off on Monday at 8:00 p.m. at the Ion Oblemenco Stadium and will be broadcast live on Digi Sport 1 and Prima Sport 1.
