We couldn’t secure any points from FC Argeș’s temporary home in Mioveni either – the purple-whites outclassed Róbert Ilyés’s team by two goals.
A sizable crowd showed up once again at the Mioveni city stadium, with nearly 4,000 fans cheering on their displaced favorites. The home ultras displayed a banner referencing Trianon, although the pre-match technical meeting didn’t touch on the topic – unlike in Miercurea Ciuc, where such political messaging is usually a major point on the agenda. The Lokálpatrióták were also present, and their small group occasionally made their voices heard – already an achievement considering Argeș's traditionally loud and fiery home atmosphere.
The match began with chances for the hosts: both Moldoveanu and Garutti threatened with headers in the first 15 minutes. However, the first clear-cut opportunity fell to Matos, who was played through (from a seemingly offside position) by a home defender, broke in from the left, and fired an unstoppable shot into the far corner – 1–0. The goal was checked by VAR but ultimately stood.
In the 28th minute, Csürös Attila suffered an injury, forcing Ilyés to change his setup. Anderson Ceara, who came on for Csürös, immediately made an impression with a good through ball, but Dolný was tackled at the last moment by Tudose. In the 42nd minute, Argeș won a free kick on the left, and this time Garutti headed Moldoveanu’s cross into the net – 2–0. Simon got a hand on it but couldn’t save it. Thankfully, this wasn’t the halftime score, as Anderson spotted Straton off his line and lobbed the ball beautifully from 20 meters into the top-left corner – 2–1!
That goal gave us hope going into the second half, and Argeș retreated cautiously into defense. During this period, we had more possession, moved the ball well, but created few chances. The only noteworthy attempt came from Szabó in the 65th minute, whose first-time effort after a neat passing move missed the target. Just three minutes later, Argeș capitalized on a counterattack: Matos assisted the newly-subbed Pîrvu, and the young striker calmly slotted it home – 3–1. The hosts found the net again through Bettaieb, but his goal was disallowed for offside.
In the post-match press conference, head coach Ilyés Róbert attributed the loss to defensive errors:
“First of all, congratulations to Argeș, they deserved the win – though we made it easier for them with our naivety. We analyzed them and knew they had dangerous players on the counterattack – as seen against CFR. That’s how we conceded the first goal. The second came from a free kick, where we knew not to give them such chances, as Caio is deadly with set pieces. After our goal, we had hope for the second half, started well, controlled the game for a while, had possession – but Argeș defended well, we couldn’t find space between them, and in trying to take risks, we left gaps at the back, which they exploited.”
We now face a roughly two-week break, as our match against CFR Cluj has been rescheduled to October 16 at their request. Our next opponent will be Universitatea Craiova at home, around the weekend of August 16.
