With steadily growing confidence, we host play-off contenders UTA on Saturday afternoon. Keeping all three points at home would maintain our momentum and provide strong hope for the future.
After three consecutive away matches, FK Csíkszereda return to home soil, only for the second time in the 2026 calendar year. In our most recent home fixture we defeated Botoșani 1–0, and we also closed the series of away games with a victory, beating Metaloglobus on Wednesday in Clinceni.
The red-and-blacks face a very tight schedule, making physical condition one of the most important factors in preparation for the match against UTA. It also helps that several new players have joined the squad recently, and nearly all of them have already featured in matches. Against Oțelul Galați, Arian Kabashi (Swiss-Kosovar) made an appearance, while Mariano Bettini (Argentine) and Gustavo Cabral (Brazilian) debuted versus FCSB. Against Metaloglobus, we also saw Răzvan Trif in action. In addition, 16-year-old academy talent Bota Darius made his Superliga debut, first playing for FK at Galați and later starting against FCSB.
This week also marked another significant milestone in the club’s history, as László Kleinheisler, the 53-time Hungarian international, joined the team. He has already trained with the squad and is expected to be included in the matchday roster. The same applies to another promising signing, Swedish midfielder Wilhelm Loeper, who fell ill shortly after arriving but rejoined training from Thursday.
As for UTA, the Arad-based side continue their fight for a place in the upper play-off, although they suffered a home defeat in their latest match against direct rivals CFR Cluj. The reverse fixture earlier this season in Arad ended in a 0–0 draw, despite FK Csíkszereda playing the entire second half with a numerical advantage.
At the pre-match press conference, head coach Róbert Ilyés pointed out that one of the biggest challenges at the moment is having to play every three days.
“We don’t want to look for excuses; we have to accept this, be men, go out on the pitch and do everything we can to win this match at home. The three points we earned on Wednesday, especially against a direct rival, came at the right time and gave the team confidence. We know it won’t be easy, as UTA are also pushing for the play-off spots, but I expect an extra effort from my players. It was encouraging how we stuck together in the last match, defended compactly and fought for every ball,” said the head coach.
The match in Round 26 of the regular season kicks off at 3:00 PM, with ticket offices opening at 2:00 PM. The game will be broadcast live on Digisport 1 and Prima Sport 1.
