FK Csíkszereda will play its first home match in the Superliga play-out. Once again, Farul Constanța arrives at the Municipal Stadium – the same opponent we defeated here two weeks ago.
Within two weeks we meet the “sailors” for the second time, both matches at home, yet the difference between the two encounters will be significant. One of the key changes is that this match already counts in the play-out that will ultimately decide the season, and points are no longer halved – this is where survival in the top division must be secured. Another difference is that the line-ups will not be the same: Farul is expected to have Ișfan, considered one of their most dangerous players, while we will be without Jebari and Loeper due to injuries. The biggest absence, however, will be our head coach Ilyés Róbert, who received a red card at the end of our first play-out match in Galați and was suspended for two games. Although he led the team’s preparation during the week, he will not be able to coach from the bench.
Therefore, the responsibility of making in-game decisions will fall to the rest of the staff. The team approaches this second round of the play-out in good form: since the winter break, we have won all our home matches and collected also two wins and one draw away. If we consider only results from 2026, before this round we would rank 6th in an imaginary table of all 16 league teams, and if we look only at the play-out teams, we are in first place, with FCSB three points behind.
Our current opponent, Farul, sits third in this ranking, having collected four wins, one draw and five losses this year, with 13 points – six fewer than us. In their most recent match, in the first round of the play-out, they secured a comfortable 2–0 home win against Petrolul Ploiești. Meanwhile, we took all three points away at Oțelul Galați and, in the official standings, we are currently in a position that would ensure our survival in the league. A victory now would allow us to further distance ourselves from the relegation and play-off spots.
Head coach Ilyés Róbert expressed optimism ahead of the match: “We already know Farul, we’ve analyzed them quite well. It’s a very technical team with quality players, but we proved at home that we can beat them, and we deserved that win. This time, however, it will be a different game with much higher stakes – we’re playing for real three points. We’ve looked good lately, and I hope we stay motivated and continue our strong home run.” Regarding his suspension, he added: “I haven’t been in this situation before, but I have to accept the decision. The staff will be on the bench, and I trust they will manage the team well.”
Mátyás Tajti, who made his debut for FK in the previous round in Galați, said: “I feel very good in the team, the guys welcomed me quickly. I like the city and I’m getting into better physical condition, which is the most important thing for me right now. After my injury I have no pain, I’m fully fit.” Márton Eppel, who also scored in Galați, emphasized that Farul is a strong opponent but has weaknesses: “We want to exploit them, just like we did a few weeks ago. We are on a good run at home and we want to continue it.”
The play-out round 2 match kicks off at 17:30 at the Municipal Stadium. A short ceremony will take place before kick-off, so we kindly ask our supporters to arrive at least 15 minutes earlier. Those unable to attend can watch the match live on Digisport 1 and Prima Sport 1. Hungarian commentary will be available worldwide via the club’s Facebook page through a radio broadcast with Róbert Kálmán Ráduly.
Go FK, go Szereda, go Székely Land!
