Romania’s U17 national team took the lead on Wednesday in their first European Championship qualifying tournament match in Italy, thanks to Bota Darius’ goal in the 22nd minute against Iceland. The team coached by Mircea Diaconescu, which also includes another academy player, Bencze Lóránd, eventually secured a 5–2 victory. Bota started the match and played until the 62nd minute. They will face Portugal on Saturday and host nation Italy on Tuesday, with only the group winner qualifying for the European Championship.
Bödő Efraim is representing FK Csíkszereda in the U19 national team’s March training camp. The squad coached by Adrian Dulcea is competing at home in Voluntari in a qualification group where the stake is also a place at the European Championship. In the opening match on Wednesday, where Bödő was on the bench, Romania suffered a 0–2 defeat against Kazakhstan U19. They will face Northern Ireland on Saturday and Ukraine on Tuesday.
FK Csíkszereda goalkeeper Simon Máté received a call-up to the U20 national team from head coach Adrian Iencsi. Romania will play two Elite League matches in this age category: the first on Friday at 17:30 in Târgoviște against Poland (live on Digisport 1), and on Tuesday in Vevey against host nation Switzerland.
