Románia Kupa | Ötgólos győzelemmel búcsúztunk a sorozattól

FK Csíkszereda did everything in their power to secure qualification in the Romanian Cup, but the 5–0 win against Sporting Liești ultimately proved insufficient to advance. Nevertheless, we exited the competition with pride.

On Wednesday evening, Ilyés Róbert’s side faced third-division Sporting Liești in the final round of the group stage. Travelling to Galați with only one point, our chances of qualification were slim. Due to the lack of floodlights at their own stadium, Liești hosted the match in Galați. Although we offered to stage the game in Miercurea Ciuc, the hosts opted for Galați, where around 1,000 spectators attended with free entry.

After a goalless first half, Wilhelm Loeper opened the scoring in the 57th minute and doubled the lead in the 67th. Eppel Márton, introduced in the 59th minute, converted a penalty in the 75th minute and added two more goals in the 82nd and 83rd minutes. While the required five-goal margin was achieved, other results did not go in our favour, and we finished fourth in the group with four points.
