Burus Bernát’s side had little trouble defeating Dinamo, a team fighting for a podium finish, in the penultimate round of the play-off.
Our U16 team said goodbye to home ground in this season’s Elitliga with an impressive performance and a confident victory. Although Dinamo Bucharest took an early lead, the red and blacks did not drop back, gradually took control of the match, and turned the score around before halftime thanks to a brace from Fazakas Zalán.
At the start of the match, the visitors tried to be more dangerous: in the 4th minute a shot went wide, and in the 9th minute Dumitrache Ștefan cleverly capitalized on a poor clearance by the goalkeeper to give Dinamo the lead. However, as the game progressed, our team increasingly imposed its will. Nagy Imre Dániel’s header went wide, while Anghel’s close-range attempt was cleared for a corner.
In the 25th minute, after a defensive mistake by Dinamo, Fazakas Zalán created a chance for himself and, after several attempts, pushed the ball into the net to equalize. The visitors tried to respond through Dumitrache Ștefan and Dumitrache Patrick, with the latter forcing a fine save from Kajtár András with a long-range effort. The closing stages of the first half again belonged to our team: Klein Tizian Mihály’s shot was saved, Fazakas headed goalwards from a corner, and Szabó Örs’s long-range attempt was held with difficulty by Duminică.
In the 45th minute, Burus Bernát’s team took the lead: a superb cross from Hella-Fehér Dániel was converted by Fazakas Zalán, giving us a 2–1 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, we kept the match under control. Dumitrache Ștefan’s free-kick effort went just wide, then Casian Enrik’s attempt was pushed away by the visiting goalkeeper, and the rebound went over. The match was decided in the closing stages: in the 79th minute, following a cross from the right, Fülöp Farkas flicked the ball towards goal, it hit the post, bounced off the already grounded goalkeeper, and went into the net.
Fazakas Zalán came close to completing his hat-trick as well, attempting a long-range lob over the goalkeeper, but the ball went just over the crossbar. In the end, Kajtár András safely held another long-range shot, so our U16 team closed their final home match of the season with a 3–1 victory.
