FK Csíkszereda is the top-flight team that gave the most opportunities to under-21 players during the autumn part of the Superliga season.
The senior men’s teams belonging to Romania’s two leading academies – the Székelyföld Labdarúgó Akadémia and the Hagi Academy – have fielded the highest number of players eligible under the youth rule in this season’s Superliga matches so far. The statistics were highlighted by the Romanian Football Federation, which also listed our young players by name. They are as follows:
- Ervin Bakos (21)
- Máté Simon (19)
- Alpár Gergely (18)
- Előd Tóth-Pál (18)
- Efraim Zoltán Bödő (18)
- Luca Noveli (17)
- Dániel Brügger (17)
- Lóránd Bencze (16)
Although the Romanian Football Federation does not include him in its statistics, Dusinszki Szabolcs should also be mentioned in this list. A graduate of our academy, the 20-year-old midfielder has been a regular presence in the team coached by Ilyés Róbert this season. However, as he represented Hungary’s junior national team in the autumn, he does not qualify under the Romanian youth rule.
As a result, if we take into account the players’ actual age rather than their national team eligibility, FK Csíkszereda effectively stands alone at the top of this statistic.
According to the Romanian federation’s official data, the same number – eight U21 players – was fielded by the top-flight team linked to the coastal youth academy, Farul Constanța. Universitatea Craiova, Dinamo Bucharest and Universitatea Cluj each gave playing time to seven U21 players, while Unirea Slobozia, CFR Cluj and FCSB used the fewest – only three.
Federation statistics also show that a total of 84 U21 players have appeared in the league so far, scoring 33 goals and providing 26 assists. These figures account for 7.78% of all goals scored, and 13.91% when goals and assists are combined. At FK Csíkszereda, two young players – Bakos and Bödő – have already found the net in the Superliga this season, and as this is our debut year in the competition, it also means that all eight youngsters were able to make their top-flight debut. Congratulations to them, and we wish them continued success in the first division!
