The new season of the Women’s Superliga kicked off on Saturday, with FK Csíkszereda facing their biggest rivals right away, away at defending champions Farul Constanța. Although the match was originally scheduled to be played in Miercurea Ciuc, it was eventually moved to Ovidiu at the seaside club’s request.
The hosts started on the front foot, but goalkeeper Boglárka Balog was in excellent form, showing early that she would be hard to beat. After the first 15 minutes, Csíkszereda gradually took control, and in the 21st minute they went ahead: Andrea Herczeg fired a brilliant long-range shot into the top corner, making it 0–1.
FK continued to play the more dangerous football, creating several promising chances, while the defense confidently dealt with Farul’s attacks. The second half remained lively, with Szőke and Vlădulescu trying to exploit counterattacking opportunities, but Farul’s goalkeeper denied them every time.
As the match approached its final stages, the home side pushed hard for an equalizer and found it in the 88th minute, when Bratu headed home from close range to make it 1–1. In the dying minutes FK pressed again, but could not find the winning goal.
