In a crucial six-pointer on Monday afternoon, Ilyés Róbert’s side overcame the Sibiu-based team, meaning we collected all six points available against Hermannstadt in the regular season. In a tight and tense encounter where both teams largely neutralized each other’s attacking play, FK found their goals from deeper positions: Csürös Attila scored his first-ever Superliga goal, while winter signing Răzvan Trif celebrated his 150th top-flight appearance with a stunning strike.

The hosts started strongly. In the 11th minute, Kleinheisler László’s long-range effort lacked power, and three minutes later Anderson set up Pászka, whose cross was cleared just ahead of Kleinheisler. In the 17th minute, however, the breakthrough arrived: after a foul on Kleinheisler, Pászka Lóránd delivered a free-kick from the right, and Csürös Attila powered home a header (1–0), netting his first Romanian top-flight goal.

Hermannstadt’s first real chance came in the 20th minute through Albu, who shot over. In the 31st minute, after a cross from the right, Afalna’s header was saved by Pap, but Chițu reacted quickest to convert the rebound (1–1).

Our response was swift. In the 38th minute, after Pászka’s corner was punched away by Lazar, the ball fell around 30 meters out to Trif, who unleashed a spectacular left-footed volley into the top-left corner (2–1). A sensational goal — a perfect way to mark his 150th Superliga match.

The second half was dominated by hard-fought battles. In the 56th minute, Politic found space, but Palmeș made a vital block. In the 71st minute, a potential handball caused controversy, yet no whistle followed, and after the resulting corner Karo cleared in a dangerous situation.

There were further chances late on: Buș headed over from 11 meters, Nagy Zoárd missed after Szalay’s cross, while at the other end Neguț miskicked from 12 meters, and in stoppage time Stancu’s volley was heroically blocked by Bota.

The score remained unchanged: another home victory, another three points, drawing us level on points with Petrolul, who occupy the first safe position above the relegation play-off. We will face the Ploiești side next round, away from home.

At the post-match press conference, head coach Ilyés Róbert said he was extremely proud of his team: “It was a very important match against a direct rival who, had they won, would have dragged us back into trouble. The game was essentially decided in the first half. In the second we dropped deeper because we are not a team that controls matches through possession. We had to suffer for the win, but we fully deserved it. At home this year we have three wins from three matches. We are not easy to beat here — we never give up easily.”

The Round 29 match against Petrolul will kick off on Sunday at 15:45 at the Ilie Oană Stadium.
