Négy mérkőzés, értékes tapasztalatok a Szomszédvár Kupán

Our U14 academy team played four matches at the Szomszédvár Cup, drawing with Eszék, defeating Várda LA, and then falling short against Kassa and Munkács in the international tournament.

Our side contested four matches in the Carpathian Basin competition. We opened with a goalless draw (0–0) against Eszék, followed by a confident 2–0 victory over Várda LA. In the final group match, Kassa won 3–0, while Munkács claimed a 1–0 win in the placement game.

Throughout the tournament, our defence was not always built on stable foundations, especially due to makeshift solutions on the flanks. Nevertheless, the team kept clean sheets in the first two matches. Against Kassa, qualification was still in our hands, but two fortunate goals by the opponent and two red cards received late in the game decided the outcome. Against Munkács, we created several chances but failed to convert them, and just before the final whistle the opponents scored from a rebound following a free kick.

Head coach Kovács Tamás highlighted after the tournament – against such teams you always face reality, as they hold up a mirror showing the direction of the international level and where we stand compared to it.

He added – the most important thing is how we adapt, how we react, what we learn and what we take from these experiences in order to become better in the future.

Ahead of the restart of the U14 Elite League, the experience gained at the Szomszédvár Cup provided important feedback on the areas where we still need to improve and refine our game.
