Our U16 team earned a three-goal victory away at Petrolul, thus managing to further extend the gap against a direct rival. The team was led by head coach Bernát Burus, who shared his post-match assessment.
The coach said that even before the game they knew they would face a tough and uncomfortable opponent, as not only the Petrolul players but also the condition of the pitch posed a challenge. – “This match carried real importance, as four points separated us from our opponents, and with a victory we could have opened up a clear advantage,” – he noted.
He explained that this time they lined up in a slightly different tactical system than usual, but the team reacted well to the change. – “We anticipated that many long balls would come towards our defenders, so this week we placed special emphasis on preparing for those situations, as well as on building quick transitions after winning the ball. These transitions appeared several times in the game and created problems in the opponent’s defensive third, from which two goals were scored,” – highlighted Bernát Burus.
In conclusion, he stressed that the players showed mature football on a pitch that posed unusual conditions for many. – “They fought as a true team to secure the victory and took a huge step toward getting even closer to our main objective,” – the head coach concluded his assessment.
