Our women’s Superliga side played their third pre-season friendly at the weekend, facing Puskás Akadémia, whose line-up included our former goalkeeper, Réka Tankó.

FK Csíkszereda’s women’s Superliga team played their third and final preparation match during their training camp in Hungary. Szilvia Szeitl’s players suffered a 3–1 defeat against Puskás Akadémia, whose goal was guarded by our former player, Réka Tankó. This match marked the end of our summer training camp in Hungary, and the team will now continue preparations at home for the league kick-off on August 23, when we will host our main rivals, Farul Constanța, in the opening round.

Head coach Szilvia Szeitl gave the following assessment of the training camp:

“We’ve completed an exciting training camp full of challenges. During this period I had the opportunity to see every player in action in competitive settings, and we also gave our young players the chance to show what they can do. Our last match was against Puskás Akadémia, where it was clear that we had made progress during the camp. I asked the girls, despite the extreme heat and the fact that the end of a camp is never about freshness, to show what they’re capable of and to push their limits.

In the first half we managed to launch several attacks and win the ball back multiple times in the opponent’s half, but unfortunately our concentration dropped at the crucial moment and we couldn’t take the lead. Our opponents capitalised on one mistake to open the scoring. At half-time we pointed out a few opportunities and immediately at the start of the second half we equalised. Sadly, although we had the chance, we didn’t take the lead — they did. By the end of the match we were mentally exhausted, and Puskás converted two of their three or four chances.

Overall, we’re fully satisfied with our physical performance over the three matches, but there’s still work to do on our play before the start of the league. The girls have two days off, then on Wednesday and Thursday we continue with double training sessions, closing the week with a friendly against a boys team of the Academy. In a week and a half, we’ll finally start the championship. We thank Puskás Akadémia for the opportunity and wish them the best of luck in their league campaign!”
