Our U15 team secured its playoff spot in a more than convincing fashion, with a seven-goal victory away against CSS Târgoviște. Head coach Zoltán Fogarasi shared his thoughts on this milestone performance.
„We knew this would be an important match regarding the playoff race, as a win combined with favorable results from our rivals could already secure our objective. The players were also highly motivated by their desire to bounce back after last week’s home defeat. They wanted to prove that they are capable not only of controlling the game but also of turning that dominance into chances and goals.
With this mindset, we took control from the very first minute, even though the narrow and short pitch — with puddles along one side — clearly favored the home team’s defensive style. Despite that, we managed to score early, which gave the team confidence and calmness. Our superiority soon became visible in well-crafted plays and goals. Our ball possession was convincing, and through the combinative play outlined in our match plan and our immediate pressing after losing possession, we took away the opponent’s time, space, and initiative, going into halftime with a comfortable lead.
The second half followed the same pattern, with the substitutes making a solid impact and helping us increase our advantage, which eventually turned into a dominant and confident victory. I’m especially pleased that our goals came from game situations we regularly practice in training. Apart from a few corners and long-range efforts, our opponents did not create any real chances, marking our fourth consecutive clean sheet in the regular season. The value of this win is even greater as it confirms our place in the playoff regardless of the final round’s result. There, the boys will face challenging but highly instructive matches that will foster their development. I know this is only a partial success, but it’s an important step in their football journey. Of course, the work doesn’t stop here — we have another serious test coming up this weekend, which will also serve as preparation for the next stage. Congratulations to the boys, and many thanks to the club and the academy for their continuous support.”
