Omar El Sawy will continue this season in Cluj, playing for Universitatea. This is the latest episode in our series following the performances of our former academy players.

Corbu Marius played 80 and 75 minutes respectively in APOEL Nicosia’s last two league matches, which naturally means he was in the starting lineup both times. APOEL recorded one win and one defeat in this period: they lost 0–1 at home to Pafos, then over the weekend they won 2–0 away against Enosi Neon Paralimniou.

At Rapid Bucharest, the club holding his registration, Omar El Sawy only accumulated 15 minutes of playing time this season. During the international break, right at the end of the transfer window, the Târgu Mureș-born footballer was loaned out again. According to the agreement, he will strengthen Universitatea Cluj, but understandably, in the weekend round, against Rapid, he was not included in the Cluj squad.

Tamás Nándor’s team, Komárno FC from the Slovak top division, is going through a successful spell: they won both in the last round before the international break and in the weekend round, collecting their first six points of the season. Miklós Radványi’s side defeated ŠK Slovan Šaľa 1–0 at home, then away against Košice, after playing with a man advantage from the 52nd minute, they came back from 0–2 down to win 3–2. In both matches, Tamás Nándor started and was substituted in the 66th and 77th minutes, respectively.

Among our former academy players competing in Hungary’s NB II, Vajda Roland was only on the bench in Videoton’s latest championship match, in the 6th round at Karcag, which the Székesfehérvár side lost 0–1. In the weekend’s cup match (Videoton–Szentlőrinc 3–0), Roland was not in the squad. Ureche Alexandru, like Vajda, was an unused substitute in BVSC-Zugló’s latest league game – the Budapest side also lost 0–1 away to Tiszakécske. Over the weekend in the cup, they won 4–0 away at Füzesabony, with Ureche once again remaining on the bench.
