We went behind after a mistake in the first half, but in the second period we broke the deadlock, turned the game around, and kept all three points at home against Olimpia Gherla.
We went behind after a mistake in the first half, but in the second period we broke the deadlock, turned the game around, and kept all three points at home against Olimpia Gherla.
Our Sunday afternoon match at the Burus Csaba Sportpark started evenly, but from the beginning we created more chances. However, precision was often missing in the finishing phase. In the 30th minute, after a free kick, Amanda Lihv sent the ball towards goal and, following a goalkeeping error, the visitors took the lead (0–1). Until the break we continued to press but couldn’t convert our opportunities.
After the restart we showed a completely different face. In the 48th minute our captain, Andrea Herczeg, equalized with a fine strike (1–1). From then on we dictated the tempo, and in the 57th minute, after a pass from Ana Maria Vlădulescu, our new signing Jehona Shala scored her first goal in red and black to put us ahead (2–1). The Kosovan striker was very active throughout the game, constantly threatening the opponent’s goal and playing a key role in our deserved victory.
After the match, our head coach Szilvia Szeitl said:
– We didn’t start well, we were very rushed. The girls also feel that they are capable of much more and are trying to give everything. This tension has been with us for a while, but I am so happy that in the second half we broke through it, and I am incredibly proud of them for coming back from a losing position, not only to equalize but to win the match – the coach emphasized.
Szeitl added that the girls are working very hard in training and this time we saw the kind of football we want to see. She also spoke about the condition of Annabell Nombot, who was injured against Alba Iulia: fortunately her concussion is not serious, she has already started light exercises, and hopefully she can return to training soon.
We dedicated this victory as a team to our masseuse Andrea Kurta and her family, who lost a loved one on the day of the match.
