Sandwiched between two European matches, the blue-and-white Oltenians also travel to Szeklerland to play their 6th round fixture against us. Rădoi’s men went through hell late Thursday night in Trnava, after Spartak overturned the three-goal deficit from the first leg in Craiova, but in the end the Romanian side secured qualification in extra time. This Thursday, however, they will face İstanbul Başakşehir FK away in the play-off of the Conference League qualifiers. Their schedule is so tight that Craiova flew directly from Slovakia to Brașov, spending two days in the area to prepare for the match against FK, and right after the game they will head straight to Brașov airport.
This makes it unlikely that Craiova will field the same starting eleven as in Trnava, but we shouldn’t have false hopes – as our head coach Ilyés Róbert pointed out, Rădoi has the resources to line up two very strong teams. What might play in our favor is that, since our previous match against CFR Cluj was postponed at the opponents’ request, we had two full weeks to prepare for this encounter. “We made the most of these two weeks, analyzing the problems that appeared in our earlier matches, and it was also good to recharge a bit for the next game. It’s very important for us to get our first win and move up from the bottom of the table,” the coach said at the pre-match press conference.
The break also gave us time to better integrate our new arrivals, Eppel Márton and Pászka Lóránd, but the bad news is that our latest signing, Dusinszki Szabolcs, got injured during his very first training session and will be sidelined for a longer period.
The Round 6 Superliga match will kick off on Sunday at 16:15. As with all our games so far in the top division, it will be a sell-out, since all available tickets are gone. The game will be broadcast live on Digisport 1 and Prima Sport 1.
